After studying abroad in Sweden, Melanie attended Skidmore College, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology. Her career began in the environmental and marine sciences working for Duke University Marine Laboratory, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and the Department of Natural Resources. Melanie decided to follow in her father’s footsteps and attend law school. Melanie graduated from the University of Baltimore School of Law, joined her father’s firm in the spring of 1997 and has been practicing law with her father since that time.
